- Appendicitis
- SYMPTOMS. Signs include loss of appetite, nausea, pain in the abdomen and
- possibly diarrhea, constipation and fever. The pain starts in the area of
- the naval and then it shifts to the lower right side of the abdomen.
- CAUSES. Fecal material, sometimes worms, obstruct the appendix causing the
- inflammation and allowing bacteria to multiply. The appendix is found at the
- site where the small and large intestines join.
- TREATMENT. The appendix may have to be removed by surgery.
- .A physical examination and white blood cell count will be done.
